ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB ) — After coming off an overtime loss Tuesday at Wellston, the Athens Bulldogs looked to bounce back against the Vinton County Vikings on their home floor.

The Bulldogs came out with a lot of energy starting off the 1st quarter on a 6-0 run by Levi Neal and Clay Boeninger, both making their three point shots.

Not long after, the Vikings were able to get themselves on the scoreboard making this a ball game to remember.

By the end of the first quarter, the bulldogs were able to hold the Vikings to only five points throughout the quarter leading them 12-5.

As the second quarter came underway both teams were having a shooting slump, as the ball did not want to go into the basket for either team.

However, the Bulldogs still had the lead by the end of the first half leading the Vikings 19-15.

As the second half got under way, the Vikings were looking to take this game over.

At the start of the third quarter, the Vikings were able to make the Bulldogs turn the ball over allowing them extra opportunities on the offensive end.

By the middle of the third quarter, both teams were tied at 23-23.

At the end of the third, the bulldogs were trying to make a run of their own to try and turn this game around, but the Vikings were beginning to overpower their offensive effort.

With their final efforts to try and take the game in the fourth, the Bulldogs were able to exchange made shots with the Vikings.

But with the Vikings extending their lead, the Bulldogs had given up.

On the offensive end, the Bulldogs shot 8/25 from the field, and only 3/22 from three point range for the entire game. The Bulldogs look to bounce back from their offensive slump during their next game.
