Ben Vander Plas enters the transfer portal
< < Back toATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) — An Ohio University Men’s Basketball star is looking for a new home for his last year of eligibility.
Redshirt Senior Forward Ben Vander Plas was listed on the NCAA’s transfer portal on Monday.
The Ripon, Wisconsin native played four years for the Bobcats after he redshirted his freshman season due to a leg injury.
He was a key element in Ohio’s 2021 MAC Tournament Championship run and the team’s NCAA Tournament victory over Virginia.
In what may be his final season with the Bobcats, he averaged 14.2 points per game to go along with 6.8 rebounds and three assists.
His efforts in the ’21-’22 season earned him spots on the All-MAC First Team, NABC All-District 14 First Team and this season’s Academic All-American Division I Men’s Basketball Team.
