Nelsonville-York Boys move up the ladder with big win over River Valley
< < Back toBidwell Ohio, (WOUB) – The Nelsonville York Buckeyes took down the River Valley Raiders 58-34.
Both teams started out the game with a high intensity and a faced paced offense, but The Buckeyes were able to jump out to an early 16-point lead mainly because of their full court which led to many turnovers from the Raiders which lead to easy transition shots.
The Buckeyes continued their strong defense in the second quarter to create easy transition layups. The buckeyes also crashed the glass and were able to keep many possessions alive on their offensive end. The Buckeyes had a comfortable halftime lead.
In the third quarter the Buckeyes took a more conservative approach and slowed down their offense down still found quality looks but were missing their shots. They were still focused on the defensive end as they continued to force turnovers and not allow easy shots. They ended the third quarter up 50-27.
The Raiders fought hard in the fourth quarter, but the lead was too large for the Raiders to come back while the Buckeyes were able to seal the victory. Nelsonville York (10-6,5-2) in conference) will play Trimble in a non-conference game on Saturday.
