Vinton County Lady Vikings fall to Unioto in final season game

Chillicothe, Ohio (WOUB) – The Vinton County Vikings took on The Unioto Shermans in a first round playoff matchup Thursday night. Coming into this match up the Vikings were considered the underdogs. The Shermans came into the matchup undefeated on the season. 

 In the early start of the game Unioto scored 8 unanswered points in the first minute of the game. The momentum would stay in favor of the Shermans and ended the first half 53-8 to force a running clock going into the second half.  

Unioto wouldn’t let up for the rest of the game with the final score being 87-20. The biggest struggles for Vinton County were the turnovers. The team was turning over the ball way to a team that they knew they had to play perfect against in order to stay in the game.  

The Shermans had a duo putting up big numbers that helped the team advance to the next round was number 1 Magnolia Holbert and Milee Smith both scoring 15 points.  

The Unioto Shermans go against the New Lexington Panther in the second round of OHSAA tournament.
