Trimble Tomcats fall to Eastern Pike in sectional final
< < Back toBeaver, Ohio (WOUB)- The Trimble Tomcats took on the Eastern Eagles from Pike County on Friday night in a win or go home playoff match-up. The winner of this game advances to the next round of the OHSAA tournament but they are also crowned the Sectional Champions.
Tomcats’ junior center Cole Wright was out due to concussion protocol, leaving a massive dent in the Trimble lineup. Junior MJ Clark filled in for Wright, putting up 10 points.
The Eagles started the night off strong by leading the Tomcats in double digits going into the second quarter 24-5. In the end the Eagles were too much for the Tomcats and bested Trimble with a final score of 63-37.
The Tomcats biggest weakness was shooting percentages. Trimble struggled scoring beyond the arc as well as inside the paint. Number 22 for the Eagles Neil Leist scored 21 points and was the leading scorer of the game.
The Tomcats look to the future now with a bright 8th grade team coming up. Head Coach Howie Caldwell said that during the offseason the team needs players to step up as their top shooter.
The Eastern Eagles go on to face the Federal Hocking Lancers in the next round of the playoffs.
