This game had huge implications in the Muskingum-Valley League Big School Division as the winner would sit securely in first place. Sheridan continued their streak of dominance, cruising to a 33-0 win.
On the very first play of the game, Philo quarterback Talon Preston’s pass was intercepted near midfield by Sheridan’s AJ Winders. This was a sign of things to come for the Electric’s offense.
Sheridan marched down the field and senior running back Justin Munyan punched it into the endzone from four yards out to put Sheridan up 7-0. The Generals would get the ball back after a defensive stop and the air raid dominance would continue. Again, this drive would end in a Justin Munyan touchdown. He finished the day with 16 carries for 83 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Caden Sheridan finished the game 9 for 16 for 224 yards and one touchdown.
Late in the second quarter, the Electrics offense put together a long drive all the way down to the Sheridan 10-yard line. However, the 27-yard field goal attempt was wide left, and the Electrics came away without any points.
The second half would be much of the same for the Philo offense. Multiple drives in the second half were stalled by penalties and they spent much of the evening in third and long (15+ yards) situations. In both losses this season, the Electrics have been unable to get on the scoreboard. Talon Preston finished the game with zero completions on eight attempts. He was also Philo’s leading rusher with 68 yards.
The Sheridan defense continued their reign of dominance. For the third straight week, the Generals have held a team scoreless, and they are only allowing eight points per game.
Next week, Sheridan hosts Maysville (2-5) while Philo travels to Dresden to face the Tri-Valley Scotties (5-2) for Week 8 action.
