Falcons soar over Eagles – Eastern suffers blowout loss against Wahama

MASON, West Virginia (WOUB) – The Wahama White Falcons (11-2) hosted the Eastern Eagles (2-12) Tuesday in an out of conference match-up.

Heading into the contest, the Eagles came off a blow-out win over Wellston. The White Falcons have had an amazing season so far and looked to expand on their success.

Wahama prevailed in dominant fashion over the Eastern Eagles with a final score of 67-41.

In the first quarter, the White Falcons came out swinging and the main culprit was none other than Senior Bryce Zuspan.

Zuspan had 10 points in the first quarter including a couple of triples. The shooting guard, Eli Rickard, contributed in the 22-point quarter with six points of his own.

Wahama handled Eastern on the other side of the ball too, allowing only nine points for the Eagles to score.

In the second quarter, the Eagles made sure they weren’t going to back down without a fight.

Part of Eastern’s success in the second quarter was from moving the ball around from player to player. They went perfect from the free throw line and had three three-pointers in the quarter.

Sophomore, Derrick Barnes, led the team in scoring with five points and Eastern ended up with a 23-point effort to end the 1st half.

They excelled on the defense too, only allowing 12 points and zero three-pointers. Eli Rickard for Wahama continued his reign with another six points in the quarter.

Eastern shortened their deficit to just two going in the second half.

In the start of the second half, Eastern’s offense quickly spoiled. Wahama allowed only four points the entire quarter and it came from Junior Gavin Murphy.

Evidently, the White Falcons stepped on the gas once again and scored 16 in the third. Rickard continued his dominance with seven points and led the team in scoring.

From there on, Wahama was in complete control and could coast their lead to the very end.

The White Falcons put up 16 points to the Eagles five and came up with another home victory.

Eli Rickard had a 22-point masterpiece for the White Falcons and Derrick Barnes led the Eagles in scoring with 10 points.

Eastern hosts the Trimble Tomcats on Friday at 7:30 and Wahama hosts the Wirt County Tigers at 7:30 on Friday.
