ATHENS, OH – With the 2023 Local Content and Service Report, WOUB is celebrating another year of increased membership, fundraising and community engagement. WOUB’s membership grew during the FY 2023 by more than 5% and the dollars raised increased by 8%. The increases show how more community members, educators, and families are utilizing our television, radio and online platforms as well as non-broadcast educational services.
“We are thrilled to continue to welcome new members to the WOUB family,” said WOUB General Manager Mark Brewer. “We are glad to know that more and more people are recognizing the value of a quality, trusted source of news, information and educational resources.”
The report highlights all the ways in which WOUB engages with the community, on-air, online and in person.
“WOUB continues to provide the factual information the region needs to be informed. Our educational activities in the community and programming on TV help teach our children and showcase cutting edge discoveries or overlooked chapters of our past. We continue to entertain people in the area with dramas on television or via WOUB Passport and regional music on the radio or via live stream, as well as locally produced podcasts,” said Brewer. “WOUB is meeting people where they are with the factual content they are looking for. We are excited to share this year’s community report and look forward to continued partnerships and support.”
As a Community Service Grant recipient from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), WOUB provides the Local Content and Service Report to the CPB and publishes it online. The report can be found here: https://bit.ly/WOUBCommunityReport2023
