COSHOCTON COUNTY, Ohio (WOUB) — Republican voters in Coshocton County made a clear choice in their candidate for an open seat on the Board of Commissioners.

Robert Bigrigg coasted to a win with 61.5 percent of the vote. Charles Selders received 22.2 percent and Merritt Roberson received 16.3 percent. No Democratic candidate ran, so Bigrigg is almost certain to clinch the seat in the November general election.

The Republican race for sheriff was much closer, with challenger Christopher Walters narrowly edging out incumbent James Crawford by a vote of 2,982 to 2,632. With no Democratic candidate in the race, Walters is almost guaranteed a win in November.

Voters in Franklin Township approved an additional fire protection levy of 2.5 mills for five years with a vote of 171 to 113.

However, an additional levy of 1 mill to support emergency medical services in the county was voted down, with 3,158 in favor and 3,683 against.
