From Excursions: Jazz Motifs w/ Dr. Art Cromwell – 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Previously unreleased concert recordings open up two areas of focus for the next “Excursions” program. The first segment, a Mal Waldron, Steve Lacy concert, provides a jumping off point for an overview of American Jazz artists who made Europe their home base at various periods of their careers.

A second concert recording, this by Yusef Lateef, extends our three part examination of Detroit masters. Yusef will be presented in a retrospective outline of his legacy.

Lastly a two-part prequel-first a birthday pre-celebration for Miles Davis (May 26). Next, a tease of our Juneteenth celebration (June 15),
a commemoration of Greg Tate, in celebration of his Pulitzer Prize Citation. Words & music by Greg and Burnt Sugar.
