Tuesday, September 3 at 9:30 pm

A New Documentary Explores the Most Recent Work By the Acclaimed Filmmaker and His Ongoing Conversation with Americans

Ken BurnsSince the release of Ken Burns: America’s Storyteller in 2017, the filmmaker has continued to create films that tell the astonishing story of America. How do the Ken Burns films released in recent years reflect an evolving nation? KEN BURNS: ONE NATION, MANY STORIES explores and celebrates the diverse array of his work
since 2017. Featuring excerpts from Country Music, Muhammad Ali, Benjamin Franklin, The U.S. and the Holocaust, The American Buffalo, The Vietnam War and others, the documentary includes an extensive interview with Burns and many of his colleagues from Florentine Films.

Known for a signature style that has come to define excellence in documentary filmmaking, Burns creates films that deepen our understanding of who we are as a nation. Throughout his career, he has carried on a deep and probing conversation with Americans about themselves and their country, its past and its future. ONE NATION, MANY STORIES shines a spotlight on the filmmaker’s personal reflections and insights. “We’re obligated as truth tellers to share the difficult aspects of our past,” said Burns. “We have to educate ourselves. We have to be active citizens.” At their best, his stories inspire that kind of citizenship. And that’s a story worth continuing.

In addition to a new interview with Burns, the film features Sarah Burns, David McMahon, Lynn Novick, Sarah Botstein, Geoffrey Ward, Dayton Duncan, Julie Dunphy, Julianna Brannum, Christopher Brown, Salimah El-Amin and others.
