These teams met with the Trojans sitting at a 1-0 record, the opposite of the Senators sitting at 0-1.
The Trojans began the game with a long drive which led them crashing into the endzone off of a screen pass to Kamron Williams with 5:17 to go in the first.
Following their touchdown, Portsmouth set up to go for two, but the ball found its way back from the two yard line to about the 20, failing the conversion attempt to leave the game at 6-0.
Portsmouth West made sure they got on the board, as Mason Parker ran 40 yards to the house following a long start to the drive. This left the game 7-6 Senators with 2:12 to play in the first.
Portsmouth West was able to get a crucial stop on fourth down on their own 15 yard line, and the first quarter was over before you even knew it began.
Following that interesting first frame, the second had its own intrigue, with it being a defensive struggle for most of the quarter.
This was highlighted by two straight punts to open the next fourth of the game.
These drives were again long and there wasn’t much action until late in the quarter.
The Trojans would storm their way down the field, and eventually the ball went from Williams to Williams to Heiland all the way to the endzone where the Trojans would get their lead back at 12-7.
They wouldn’t just settle for a five point lead though, as they found their way to the endzone again on the two point conversion attempt, which put the game at 14-7 going into halftime.
Portsmouth would go on to extend their first half momentum, finishing the game with a resounding win, 41-7.
The Portsmouth West Trojans look to grab their first win of the season in next week’s contest where they’ll take on Hillsboro.
