Rock Hill Beats Chesapeake In Record-Breaking Game

IRONTON, OH (WOUB) – The Rock Hill Redmen (6-2) hosted the Chesapeake Panthers (5-3) for Senior Night. Rock Hill would finish the game defeating Chesapeake 60-49. 

Rock Hill’s Senior Anthony Stamper needed 195 rushing yards to break the school’s rushing record. He ended the game with 26 carries and 216 yards. 

Stamper broke a 50-yard run on the first play of the game. Dallin Cox scored on a 1-yard quarterback sneak to give Rock Hill the lead on the first possession. Chesapeake drove down the field on their first possession of the game as Jacob Harris found Ethan Kerns for a touchdown.

Stamper broke a 13-yard touchdown on the next drive to take back the lead for the Redmen. The Panthers had 4th and goal, but it didn’t matter as Drew Plantz took the counter run into the end zone for 6. 

Dallin Cox found the end zone again in the second quarter, five straight possessions without a punt. Drew Schug of the Redmen blocked the first punt of the day. Brody Simpkins capitalized off the blocked punt with a rushing touchdown. The halftime score was 28-14. 

Chesapeake punted the ball again but muffed it which led to Anthony Stamper’s 1-yard touchdown. The third quarter would mostly be back-and-forth scoring between the Panthers and the Redmen. Stamper had a 5-yard touchdown and an 8-yard touchdown in the third quarter. 

Harris found Isaacs for a 9-yard touchdown pass. By the end of the third quarter, Rock Hill led 47-28.

Jacob Harris found Ethan Kerns wide-open in the endzone for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter. On the Redmen’s next possession, they found themselves punting the ball. The Panthers had an opportunity to make it a one-possession game, but Stamper intercepted Harris on the first play after the punt. 

Stamper added to his total when he ran it in from 6 yards out to make it a three possession game. Isaacs caught a 4-yard touchdown pass and Jacob Harris took it in for the two-point conversion to put the game at 53-44. 

Rock Hill’s next drive was history for one player on this team. Anthony Stamper surpassed K.C. Christian’s single-season record for rushing yards. The next play was a rushing touchdown by the Redmen. Andrew Isaacs scored a 31-yard touchdown but it was too late. Rock Hill won this game 60-49 Rock Hill improved to 7-2 going into their final game at Coal Grove. 

Chesapeake looks to finish the season strong at Fairland next Friday.
