ATHENS, OH – With the November election just around the corner, WOUB Public Media held an in-depth political discussion with three Ohio Statehouse reporters at Jackie O’s Brewpub. The event called Conversations & Cocktails was held on October 8. The panelists were Statehouse Bureau Chief Karen Kasler, Statehouse Senior Reporter/Producer Jo Ingles and Statehouse Reporter/Producer Sarah Donaldson. The discussion was moderated by WOUB Reporter David Forster.
The reporters answered questions submitted by those in attendance about topics like the U.S. Presidential Election, State Issue 1, the U.S. Senate race in Ohio between Democrat Incumbent Sherrod Brown and Republican Businessman Bernie Moreno, and how the race for three spots on the Ohio Supreme Court could impact future cases that come before the judicial body.
This was the first Conversations & Cocktails event hosted by WOUB and it was a big success. The brewpub was filled to capacity.
“WOUB was thrilled with the turnout and glad to be able to bring the Ohio Statehouse reporters to Athens to discuss important issues and get questions answered before the November election,” said WOUB Community Engagement and Membership Manager Cheri Russo. “The reporters have a wealth of knowledge and understanding because they cover these issues day in and day out. We plan to hold more events like this in the future in Athens and around the region.”
