ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) – Last month Captain Chucke & the Cadillac South released Letters From the Other Side of Hell, a deeply personal and introspective EP chronicling band leader Charles Whaley’s often rocky but ultimately hopeful journey away from being houseless and towards security – in his words, from “hobo to housie.”

Featuring six tracks, the release explores themes of resilience, growth, and human connection. From the raw honesty of I’m Glad You’re Gone, a breakup anthem about escaping toxicity, to the title track, which reflects on life lessons through letters to past and future selves, each song offers a window into Whaley’s transformative journey. The album is enriched musically by blending resonator, banjo, and soulful guitar to create a distinct Appalachian sound.
