
TVC-Ohio Standings: Standings stay put before conference play resumes

The Marauders continued rolling through last week. They went to Athens on Tuesday where they’d come out on top 60-45, and they ended the week on Friday with a matchup at home versus Nelsonville-York. Led by Senior Cayden Gheen and Sophomore Reed Brinager, Meigs advanced to 12-0 with a 92-47 victory against the Buckeyes.
Meigs will be on the road all next week, traveling outside of the TVC to the TSL. They will face the 5-9 Fort Frye Cadets on Tuesday and the 10-2 Warren Warriors on Friday.

With only one game in conference last week, Vinton County took a big second-half win over the Golden Rockets to further secure second place in the TVC-Ohio.
The Vikings continue their run of out of conference opponents but have a chance to close the gap with the Marauders as they look to face the River Valley Raiders next week, who sit at the bottom of the TVC-Ohio.
T3. Nelsonville-York Buckeyes | 8-4 (Conf. 3-2)

The Buckeyes put together an impressive week, beating both Wellston and their rival, the Trimble Tomcats. While they did fall to the top ranked Meigs Marauders, they’ll get another crack at them in a few weeks.
The boys will look to redeem themselves against Athens this week after losing a close one to the Bulldogs earlier in the season.
T3. Athens Bulldogs | 6-5 (Conf. 3-2)

The Athens boys took on two conference opponents this week, starting against the Meigs Marauders who currently sit atop the TVC-Ohio. They fell short by 15 points, with a final score of 60-45. Later in the week, the Bulldogs took a trip to see the Alexander Spartans in the Alley for a big conference rivalry matchup. Athens was able to pull ahead and come out on top of the matchup thanks to help from seniors Leo Martin and Easton Nuzum. Nuzum led the team with 17 points, and Martin helped facilitate the game with 8 assists.
Next week, they’ll host Gallia Academy at home on Tuesday night, before another conference matchup against the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes, who sit just above the Bulldogs in the conference standings.

The Golden Rockets took on Nelsonville-York, Vinton County, and Whiteoak this week. They fell to the Buckeyes 54-41, lost to Vinton County by 10 on Friday, and lost to Whiteoak 51-48 on Saturday.
Wellston will take on Ross County Christian on Tuesday, before hitting the road on Friday to take on Alexander. The Golden Rockets defeated the Spartans 54-40 earlier in the season.

Alexander notched their first conference win Tuesday night at River Valley in an overtime thriller, winning 57-53. Freshman Jace Cooper led all scorers with 19 points, and seniors Klaxton Hawk and Isaac Waller each recorded a double-double in the win over the Raiders.
Friday, the Spartans hosted the Athens Bulldogs. The two teams kept it close throughout the game, but the Bulldogs pulled away in the final quarter and defeated the Spartans 63-48. Hawk again showed out, dropping 20 points despite the loss.
This week, the Spartans will travel to Fairfield Union on Tuesday and will host the Wellston Golden Rockets for Alexander’s Military Appreciation Night.

River Valley lost a thriller at home to Alexander on Tuesday, losing in overtime 57-53. The Raiders also fell to South Gallia 61-53 on Saturday.
The Raiders have three games ahead this week, starting off with traveling to Federal Hocking this week. After that, they will play Vinton County on Friday night and capping off the week by taking on Meigs.
TVC-Ohio Girls’ Standings

The Athens Lady Bulldogs have continued their stay atop the TVC-Ohio, picking up two more conference wins. They started against Nelsonville-York on January 9, who they defeated 64-36. Junior Ella Chapman led the charge with 14 points. The following week, the Lady Bulldogs traveled to River Valley to face off with the Raiders, who were the only conference team to defeat Athens last season, but Athens held them at bay, securing a victory with a final score of 57-38. Lex Koopal got to work in the paint in this matchup, picking up 17 points, closely followed by Quinn Banks with 16. On Saturday, the Lady Bulldogs headed down to Shawnee State for a Buckeye Elite Showcase game against Portsmouth Notre Dame. Athens pulled off yet another win for the week thanks to Olivia Smart, who had 12 points and was named the Buckeye Elite Showcase MVP.
Next week, Athens will look to the TVC-Hocking in their game against Federal Hocking on Monday, before shifting their focus back to the TVC-Ohio for games against Vinton County on Wednesday and Wellston on Thursday.

The Lady Spartans took down Wellston on the road Monday, winning 58-32. Sophomore Lily Ryder put up 25 points in the contest, leading all scorers.
Alexander followed up that performance with another conference win, knocking off Vinton County 53-36. Kayden Bean led the Spartans in scoring with 15 points on their way to their second straight win.
Saturday, that win streak came to a quick end, as the Spartans were defeated by North Adams 50-42.
The Spartans will have two games this week. Wednesday they’ll host the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes, and Thursday they’ll go to River Valley to play the Raiders in a high-stakes conference matchup. Their game originally scheduled for Monday against Eastern was canceled due to the Eagles not having enough healthy players.

It was a pretty jam-packed week for the Raiders. With the rescheduled dates, River Valley had 4 games on the schedule this week. They started off by taking down fellow conference foes Meigs and Wellston. They dropped a tough contest against Athens, before coming back and beating Dawson Bryant at home.
The only game on the schedule for the Raiders this week is at home against Alexander on Thursday. These teams faced off earlier in the year, with the Spartans taking down River Valley 45-43 in overtime.

The Lady Vikings faced two conference opponents this past week, meeting the Buckeyes and Spartans. Vinton County came away with a big 68-43 win against Nelsonville-York but fell 53-36 to Alexander. The Vikings face a tough stretch of in conference opponents exclusively until they meet the Trimble Tomcats to end out the season.
Although the Vikings have secured the fourth seed for now, they face the top seeded Bulldogs on Wednesday evening with a chance to give the Lady Bulldogs their first conference loss of the season.

The Nelsonville-York Lady Buckeyes played in three games last week and dropped two of them. They did secure another conference victory against Meigs winning by their largest margin yet, 36 points. On Saturday, they fell against their rival, Trimble, in a 41-39 overtime thriller.
The Lady Buckeyes will be back in action this week against Southern and Logan with hopes of grabbing some non-conference wins.

The Golden Rockets had three games on the schedule this week, including two tough conference opponents. They fell to Alexander on Monday and River Valley on Wednesday. Their final game of the week was against Paint Valley on Thursday, and they lost 55-42.
Wellston will take on Trimble on Wednesday, before finishing the week against Athens on Thursday.

The Lady Marauders have continued to seek their first season win with two games last week. They began last week at home on Monday against River Valley, where the Raiders came out with the win 61-23. They went on the road on Thursday to face Nelsonville-York at the Nuthouse, where the Buckeyes won 56-20.
This coming week, Meigs will be on the road for two games. They’ll go to Ashton, West Virginia, to face the Hannan Wildcats on Tuesday and to Reedsville on Wednesday for a matchup with the Eastern Lady Eagles.
