The Athens Lady Bulldogs are nearing the end of their season and a 62-19 win over the Meigs Marauders on Monday night got them one step closer. Later in the week, they traveled down the road for a rivalry game against the Alexander Spartans, who gave the Bulldogs their first conference loss.
Athens’ Asa Holcombe picked up 20 points in the rivalry matchup, fouling out in the final minute only three away from reaching 1000 career points. Luckily, the Lady Bulldogs had another home game against Logan, where she reached the benchmark off her first score of the game.
The Bulldogs went on to win over Logan 58-36, and next week they’ll wrap up their season with three more games starting with a trip to Vinton County to face off with the Vikings. Athens sits only one win from clinching the TVC-Ohio title outright for the second year in a row, and one more conference win next week would seal the deal.

This game against the head of the conference is followed by a single day of rest before a back-to-back set against Wellston Wednesday and Thursday.
