CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (WOUB) — The Federal Hocking Lady Lancers delivered a dominant performance against the Valley Indians, securing a 52-24 victory in the district semi-finals.
From the opening tip-off to the final buzzer, the Lancers controlled the pace of the game, never allowing Valley to gain momentum.
Federal Hocking set the tone early with aggressive defense, forcing turnovers and crashing the boards to limit Valley’s second-chance opportunities. Their relentless pressure led to multiple steals and transition points, putting the Indians on their heels.
By the end of the first quarter, the Lancers held a 15-7 lead, while Valley struggled to establish an offensive rhythm.
The second quarter saw more of the same dominance from the Lancers. They added 11 more points while continuing to stifle Valley’s offense, holding them to just four in the quarter.
Brenlee Cottrill, Jaylee Orsborne, and Rorie Tabler led the charge, making crucial plays on both ends of the court.
After the break, the Lancers showed no signs of slowing down. Their defensive pressure remained relentless, forcing Valley into rushed shots and turnovers. On the offensive end, Federal Hocking executed with precision, outscoring the Indians in the second half.
Cottrill led all scorers with 17 points, while Tabler added 11 and Orsborne contributed 10. The trio’s combined efforts ensured that Valley had no chance at a comeback.
With a well-rounded team effort and a strong defensive performance, the Lady Lancers secured their place in the district final.
Next up, they will play in the district final against the Portsmouth West Senators on Saturday, Feb. 22. Federal Hocking will look to carry their momentum into the matchup as they aim to continue their postseason run.
