ATHENS, OH – With the 2024 Local Content and Service Report, WOUB is looking back on FY 2024 and closing the book on the 75th anniversary of WOUB Radio along with another year of increased membership, fundraising and community engagement. From July 2023- June 2024, WOUB’s membership grew by 1% and the dollars raised increased by nearly 9%. The increases show how more community members, educators, and families are utilizing our television, radio and online platforms as well as WOUB’s non-broadcast educational services.
“Serving 55 counties in three states with trusted, quality public media and educational resources is a big job,” said WOUB General Manager Mark Brewer. “But WOUB tries to reach and connect with as many adults and children in the service area as possible.”
The report highlights all the ways in which WOUB engages with the community; on-air, online and in person.
“WOUB continues to provide the factual information the region needs to be informed, along with quality entertainment such as dramas on television or via WOUB Passport and regional music on the radio or via livestream, as well as locally produced podcasts. In 2024, we celebrated 75 years of WOUB Radio serving our region. This year’s report showcases the impact WOUB has on the region, past, present and future.”
As a Community Service Grant recipient from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), WOUB provides the Local Content and Service Report to the CPB and publishes it online. The report can be found here: https://bit.ly/WOUB2024CommunityReport
