Entire “NewsWatch” staff and four individual students get national recognition for their WOUB work
< < Back toATHENS, OH – The entire WOUB NewsWatch staff won Best All-Around Television Newscast for an episode that aired on Sept. 27, 2024 as part of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) 2024 Mark of Excellence Awards in Region 4. Four individual Ohio University students were also named winners or finalists for journalism work they did in the WOUB Public Media newsroom.
The SPJ Mark of Excellence Awards recognizes the best collegiate journalism. SPJ’s Region 4 comprises Michigan, Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
“I’m extremely proud of the students being recognized by SPJ’s Mark of Excellence Awards,” said WOUB Editor-in-Chief Atish Baidya. “Their hard work and dedication to providing news and information to our region always inspires me.“
