ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) — Sometimes, all you need is one chance.
That’s what former Ohio offensive lineman Carson Heidecker will look to do next month, as he’s been invited to rookie mini camp by the Atlanta Falcons.
Heidecker, a Notre Dame College transfer, was a mainstay in the Ohio offensive line in his lone season with the Bobcats. Starting most of the year at tackle, he transitioned to guard for the final few games of the season, including the MAC Championship Game and Cure Bowl.
Heidecker told WOUB in an interview before the 2025 NFL Draft that he’s been looking forward to playing more interior offensive line, specifically guard, as that’s where most NFL teams will look to use him.
The invite to mini camp does not come with a contract offer, but if Heidecker impresses, it could come with an invite to training camp in July, or a contract in some capacity.
The Falcons currently have just five offensive guards rostered, providing a path towards a roster spot for Heidecker.
