ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) — Coleman Owen won’t have to travel far from Athens to begin his NFL career.
Ohio Football confirmed Owen signed a UDFA deal with the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday night, becoming the third Bobcat to sign a post-draft deal.
Owen joins a Colts wide receiver room that’s very fluid with non-guaranteed contracts, boasting well for the chance he sticks on the roster for the regular season. He’ll notably be joining a receiver room that includes Michael Pittman Jr., Adonai Mitchell, Alec Pierce, and Josh Downs.
Most notably, Owen will participate on special teams. He told WOUB after Ohio’s annual Pro Day that he knows he’ll have to do whatever it takes on special teams to stick on a roster. Anthony Gould currently serves as the team’s kick returner and punt returner.
Owen joins Roman Parodie and Anthony Tyus III as Bobcats who have signed NFL contracts post-draft, as Parodie and Tyus have signed with the Buccaneers and Lions, respectively.
