ATHENS, Ohio – Swanpalace releases their debut EP, To Depart the Waking World, today. The group features the talents of Athens-based musician (and Director of the Ohio University School of Media Arts & Studies) Josh Antonuccio, Jim Eno (perhaps best known as the drummer for Spoon) and vocalist Leah Joy.
Drawing influence from shoegaze and indie rock influences like Slowdive and Yo La Tengo, as well as guitarists like Tom Verlaine, Kevin Shields, and Johnny Marr, the six-song EP was recorded by Antonuccio in Athens, with drums and mixing contributed by Eno by way of his Providence, RI-based studio Public Hi-Fi.
The full EP is now available on streaming (such as the group’s Spotify page) and limited edition 180-gram vinyl. The single Every was released April 24 and mixed for Dolby Atmos by Jim Eno and is available exclusively on Apple Music.
To Depart The Waking World’s cover art was developed by renowned illustrator Jason Mowry, who notably illustrated Grimm’s Fairy Tales for Easton Press in 2022.
