Sheridan takes over Shilo in rivalry battle

DUNCAN FALLS, Ohio (WOUB) – The Philo Electrics (5-1) played host to longtime rival Sheridan Generals (4-2) Friday night. For the eighth year in a row, Sheridan took the victory home, this time by a score of 28-7.
On the opening drive, Electrics DB Aidan Mahon picked the Generals off right after a big run from Sheridan RB Logan Russell. Philo’s drive stalled, allowing the Generals to capitalize with a long, methodical possession, which was capped off by a 17-yard diving score from Logan Hupp.
The Electrics failed to get anything going on offense in the first quarter. Sheridan’s strong run game kept the ball out of Shilo’s hands, and in those limited opportunities, the General defense refused to break.
Hupp made his magic happen on the opening drive of the second quarter as well, where he scored from 60 yards out. This pushed it to 14-0 Sheridan early on.
The game slowed down at the end of the first half. It was packed with short runs, and plenty of time ticked off on the scoreboard. As a result, the halftime score was 14-0 Generals. After three, Philo got on the board, making it a contested 14-7.
Russell erupted for Sheridan, finishing the game with 200 yards and 2 touchdowns on the night. Both of his touchdowns came in the fourth quarter and completely solidified the Generals chances to win.
Sheridan (5-2) now looks to add to their 5-game winning streak at Morgan (4-2) next Friday. Philo (5-2) will hope to bounce back at Tri-Valley (4-2).
