Wheelersburg dominates against Minford

MINFORD, Ohio (WOUB) — The Minford Falcons (2-7) hosted the Wheelersburg Pirates (8-0) in a conference matchup. The Pirates were able to secure the dominant 56-6 victory.
Wheelersburg started with the ball and got off to a quick start. They rushed down the field and punched their way into the end zone for a rushing touchdown by Elijah Brown. Minford, on the other hand, did not get much action with the ball. The Falcons stopped on their own side of the field and had to give up possession. Minford continued this streak throughout the game.
The Pirates continued to push the ball down the field on each of their drives and go past the goal line every time they had the ball. They got a little extra time with the ball due to an interception by LB Brew Hanzel and a fumble recovered by a crew of Pirates.
Just in the first half, Wheelersburg was able to put up seven touchdowns and one field goal to give it a 53-0 lead at halftime. Minford did not have a prominent offensive or defensive game in the first half. Other than a few punts, they did not get down the field too much.
Wheelersburg carries its dominance from the first half into the second half and comes out with the 56-6 victory. The Pirates will set the stage against Portsmouth West Senators (4-4) to see if they can be the outright SOC champions. The Falcons stay home to play the Valley Indians (6-2) in the last week of regular season.
