BEVERLY, Ohio (WOUB) — The Fort Frye Cadets took on Point Pleasant this week for their senior night game. The 7-1 Cadets looked to end their season with a win against the winless Point Pleasant. They were looking to win their last game before leaving the TSL.

Point Pleasant would receive the ball first, receiving it at their own 29-yard line. They would make a good drive down the field and into the red zone before they fumbled the ball off a lateral which Fort Frye recovered, starting their drive at their own 34-yard line. It would only take the Cadets one play to score with a 66-yard rushing touchdown from Tyce Beardsley to put them up 7-0 after a good PAT. Point Pleasant would again drive down the field and make it inside of Fort Frye’s 20-yard line before they would score from the 5-yard line on a touchdown pass to Gavin Barnett to tie things up. On the ensuing drive Point Pleasant would force a fumble and take over inside Fort Frye territory. But they wouldn’t score there, giving the ball back to the Cadets after a missed field goal. That would lead to the end of the first with everything tied at 7.

The Cadets wasted no time getting to work in the second quarter, scoring two minutes in on a run from Gavin Rauch; they went for two and converted putting them up 15-7. Point Pleasant would be forced to punt the ball back to Fort Frye on the ensuing possession. Fort Frye would start possession of Point Pleasant’s 42-yard line and proceed to make it all the way down to the 2-yard line before punching it in with Kainan Bradford; the Cadets would once again go for two and convert to put them up 23-7. Point Pleasant would receive the ball on their 24-yard line and drive down the field before Caden Hill threw an interception to Tyce Beardsley on Fort Frye’s 23-yard line. The Cadets would start their drive with under 5 minutes left in the half, but they would drive down the field and Gavin Rauch would punch it in from 23-yards out followed by a good PAT to put Fort Frye up 30-7. Point Pleasant would again drive down the field and again Caden Hill would throw an interception to Tyce Beardsley. Fort Frye would try to score before half but would be unable to despite some long runs, ending the half 30-7.

Point Pleasant would kick the ball off to Fort Frye to start the second half, and the Cadets would drive down the field and punch the ball in from the 2-yard line on another Tyce Beardsley run. After a good PAT, the Cadets would push the lead to 37-7. A little later Fort Frye would trap Point Pleasant in their own endzone for safety, making it 39-7. Fort Frye would make it inside of Point Pleasant’s 5-yard line late in the third quarter and eventually punch it in with Dayne Miller, and after another good PAT the Cadets would go up 46-7. Point Pleasant would go on to score with 7 minutes left in the fourth on a 38-yard touchdown pass and after a good PAT, they would make the score 46-14. Neither team would go on to score for the rest of the game, ending it with a final score of 46-14 in a one-sided win for the Cadets.

With this, the Fort Frye Cadets would move to 3-0 in TSL play and 8-1 overall on the season. Point Pleasant with their last game in the TSL would fall to 0-3 in conference play and 0-8 overall in the season.
