TVC-Hocking Standings: Southern boys stay perfect atop the conference, Lady Lancers tied for first with Eastern girls

TVC-Hocking Boys’ Standings
1. Southern Tornadoes | 4-2 (Conf. 3-0)

The Southern Tornadoes kept rolling last week. Southern faced Cincinnati Christian in the River City Classic in their only game. The Tornadoes handled the unfamiliar opposition easily, knocking off Cincinnati Christian 71-34.
Southern will begin a five-game homestand this week. The Tornadoes will begin the homestand with nonconference games against Ravenswood W.Va. on Tuesday and Crooksville on Saturday.
T2. Belpre Golden Eagles | 4-4 (Conf. 2-1)

Belpre split their nonconference games last week. The Golden Eagles began the week with a 54-44 loss to Fort Frye but quickly recovered and beat Ross County Christian 71-42.
Belpre will return to conference play next week. The Golden Eagles will look for revenge on the road when they visit Federal Hocking. The Lancers knocked off Belpre 42-33 the last time the two teams met.
T2. Federal Hocking Lancers | 4-5 (Conf. 2-1)

After a rough previous week, Federal Hocking was in desperate need of a win. The Lancers bounced back, winning both games last week. On Tuesday, Federal Hocking traveled to Berne Union, outlasting the Rockets 49-43. They closed off the week with a trip to Waterford, taking the contest 40-36.
Approaching the new year, the Lancers sit just one game below .500. Federal Hocking has a chance to get to .500 and go 3-1 in TVC-Hocking play with their only game next week. They host the Belpre Golden Eagles for their second meeting of the season on Monday.
4. Waterford Wildcats | 2-6 (Conf. 2-2)

The Waterford boys dropped both games this week, falling 65-57 on the road at Alexander before a narrow 40-36 home loss to Federal Hocking. In the loss at Alexander, Finn Pennock led the Wildcats with 27 points, while Reese Lang added 19.
Waterford will look to bounce back as it travels to River Valley on Monday and to Frontier on Saturday.
5. Eastern Eagles | 4-6 (Conf. 1-2)

It was a down week for the Eastern Eagles, only having one game during the holiday break. As an early Christmas present they won that game to keep the good spirits for the holidays.
The Eagles faced off against former TVC-Hocking member South Gallia on Tuesday, winning the game with a final score of 54-48. This win puts the Eagles two games under .500, aswell as continuing the Eagles streak of scoring more than 50 points a game. This game brings the streak to nine games; however, the Eagles have lost five of those nine games.
The Eagles will look to continue this streak with a cross-TVC matchup against the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes at home on Dec. 30. Their next game is in the new year, with a home game against the Fairland Dragons, on Jan. 3.
6. Trimble Tomcats | 2-7 (Conf. 0-4)

It was an up and down week for the Trimble boys, as they only played two games, winning one and losing the other.
On Monday, the Tomcats traveled to take on the Ross County Christian Academy Eagles in a close match, losing by one point, 91-90. Despite the loss, it was the boys’ highest-scoring performance yet. The next day, Trimble hosted the Miller Falcons and won 60-52.
The boys will need to look sharp come Tuesday, as they will hit the road again to face the Millersport Lakers at 6:30 p.m.
TVC-Hocking Girls’ Standings
T1. Eastern Eagles | 6-4 (Conf. 4-1)

It was a quiet week for the Eagles, they traveled to West Virginia to take on the Parkersburg Catholic Crusaders on Monday. Eastern would lose the game 70-66, which would be the most points they have given up all season, while concurrently scoring their second most points of the year.
After a seven-day break, the Eagles will hit the road again to face the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes on Dec. 29. Eastern will be looking to continue their revenge tour after losing to the Buckeyes by 29 points last season. It will also be the second game of eight straight road games for Eastern. They will not return to the Nest until Jan 26.
T1. Federal Hocking Lancers | 6-4 (Conf. 4-1)

Over the holiday season, Federal Hocking had to focus on two of the important games in the regular season. On Monday, they hosted Region 23 reigning champions the Fort Frye Cadets. Despite the Lancers trying to avenge their loss from earlier in the season, they once again fell to the Cadets 46-37.
Shifting their focus to conference play, they faced off against reigning TVC-Hocking and State champions Waterford on the road. Federal Hocking made a statement winning 65-36.
Federal Hocking as of now does not have any scheduled games next week, meaning they will sit at 5-4 and 3-1 in conference play going into the new year.
T3. Waterford Wildcats | 5-5 (Conf. 2-2)

The Waterford Wildcats finished the week 1–1, earning a 48-43 home victory over Alexander before dropping a 65-36 decision at home to Federal Hocking. The win over Alexander came in a tightly contested matchup, while Federal Hocking pulled away in the second game of the week.
Waterford will look to build momentum as they travel to Newark Catholic on Tuesday and to Belpre on Saturday.
T3. Belpre Golden Eagles | 4-7 (Conf. 2-2)

Belpre struggled at the River City Classic, losing both games. The Golden Eagles dropped their first game of the event to Marietta 50-40. Belpre then lost their second game against undefeated Shenandoah 66-15.
Belpre will return to TVC-Hocking play next week. The Golden Eagles will play Waterford on Saturday.
5. Trimble Tomcats | 6-4 (Conf. 2-3)

The Trimble girls had a very productive week, winning their last three games by 15 or more points.
The first win of the week came Monday on the road against the Ross County Christian Academy Eagles, with a final score of 63-28. They hit the road again the next day to take on the Meigs Marauders, taking home the win 67-52. The girls played the Tyler Knights on Saturday and won 70-42, their highest scoring game yet.
The Tomcats will look to stay on the right path going forward as they host the Miller Falcons on Saturday, with tipoff starting at 1 p.m.
6. Southern Tornadoes | 3-7 (Conf. 0-5)

In their only game of the week, the Southern girls’ basketball team put up a good fight against a solid Caldwell team. Despite the effort, the Tornadoes still fell to Caldwell 46-36.
Southern will face another tough team this week. The Tornadoes will face Gallia Academy, who took a blowout win over TVC-Ohio opponent River Valley on Monday.
