TVC-Ohio Boys’ Standings

1. Meigs Marauders | 7-4 (Conf. 3-0)

Written by: Joshua Hoerner

The Marauders had a busy nonconference schedule this week that included Gallia Academy, Waverly and Marietta. Meigs started the week with a 63-54 win over the Blue Devils. Carson Davis led the way with 23 points and Colben Beucler and Gunner Cleland both added in double-digit points.

However, the squad ended the week with two losses to both Tiger teams. They lost 72-34 to Marietta, as Davis and Owen Tracy both had over 10 points. In the final game of the week, the Marauders almost came back from a 10-point deficit to take down Waverly but fell 50-47. Davis and Tracy combined for 40 of the team’s 47 points.

The Marauders head back to the TVC-grind this week, hosting Vinton County on Tuesday night and heading to River Valley on Friday night. They’ll take on Wellston in their lone game the following week.

2. Wellston Golden Rockets | 7-1 (Conf. 3-1)

Written by: Andrew Woods

Wellston’s winning ways continued last week. The Golden Rockets visited Piketon and took home a thrilling victory. Wellston took a 17-10 lead in the first quarter, but Piketon tied the game 29-29 at the halftime break. From that point, the Golden Rockets gradually pulled away, taking a three-point lead at the end of the third quarter before extending it by three more in the fourth quarter to take a 66-60 win.

Wellston will try to carry their momentum on the road this week. The Golden Rockets will begin the week against Federal Hocking on Tuesday before facing Vinton County, who has lost four games in a row, on Friday.

 3. Vinton County Vikings | 3-5 (Conf. 2-1)

Written by: Ella Hughes

The Vikings’ woes continue as they lost their fourth game in a row, further extending the losing streak. VC only played one game last week, suffering a 61-50 loss to Huntington.

With one more road game at Meigs on Tuesday, it will be important for the Vikings to regroup before another conference game against the first-place Marauders. They will play their first home game of the new year Friday against Wellston and will play the second game of the back-to-back Saturday against Zane Trace

T4. Alexander Spartans | 3-7 (Conf. 1-2)

Written by: Joshua Jacob

The Alexander Spartans had a down start to 2026, ending 2025, and starting this year with a loss. The Spartans faced the Jackson Ironmen on Dec. 30 and lost 69-32. They started the new year with a matchup against Coal Grove, which they lost by one point, 48-47.

The Alexander boys will look to use what they have learned to bounce back in their two matchups this week. They will face River Valley on Jan. 6 in their first conference matchup of the year. They will then play the Athens Bulldogs on Jan. 9. With both teams being below the Spartans in the standings, both games could have a shift in where Alexander sits in the conference.

T4. Athens Bulldogs | 3-5 (Conf. 1-2)

Written by: Luke Schmitt

The Athens Bulldogs dropped their lone game of the week, falling to Peebles, 68-56 at the Spartan Classic.

Collin Chapman led Athens with 17 points, helping the Bulldogs cut the deficit to 45-41 heading into the fourth quarter. Athens controlled the glass, outrebounding their opponent, but struggled to defend an efficient shooting night for the Indians, allowing its opponent to shoot 52% from the field and 47% from three-point range.

Athens will look to bounce back Tuesday night, traveling to Nelsonville-York for a rivalry conference matchup with the Buckeyes. Both teams currently sit neck and neck at 1-2 in conference.

T6. Nelsonville-York Buckeyes | 4-5 (Conf. 1-3)

Written by: Phoenix Brown

The Buckeyes had a set of close games in their schedule last week, as they took on New Lexington, Eastern and Warren. They dropped last Monday’s matchup to the Panthers by a score of 48-46, but picked up a win against the Eastern Eagles 71-69. In the new year, the Warren Warriors got away from the Buckeyes, taking the win 66-60. Fortunately, their two losses do not affect their TVC-Ohio record of 1-3.

The Buckeyes take on more TVC-Ohio action on Tuesday as they will face the Athens Bulldogs, along with Trimble to end their week on Saturday.

T6. River Valley Raiders | 4-6 (Conf. 1-3)

Written by: Andrew Woods

River Valley split their nonconference games last week. The Raiders began the week by knocking off Waterford 52-43. However, River Valley could not take the momentum from the win on the road, as the Raiders fell to Clay 55-51.

River Valley returns to TVC-Ohio action this week. The Raiders will face Alexander on Tuesday and conference leader Meigs on Friday.

TVC-Ohio Girls’ Standings

1. Athens Bulldogs | 8-2 (Conf. 4-0)

Written by: Luke Schmitt

The Athens Lady Bulldogs played just one game this week, earning a 50-35 road win over Logan on Saturday afternoon. The matchup was originally scheduled for Dec. 13 but was postponed and rescheduled for Jan. 3.

Athens won the out-of-conference contest to improve to 8-2 overall in the season.

The Lady Bulldogs will return home tomorrow to host Wellston in their lone game of the week, looking to remain undefeated in conference play. Athens currently sits atop the conference standings, ahead of River Valley, who is 4-1 in conference action. The Lady Bulldogs and Lady Raiders will meet on Jan. 15 in what is shaping up to be a highly anticipated conference showdown.

2. River Valley Raiders | 6-5 (Conf. 4-1)

Written by: Andrew Woods

The River Valley Raiders suffered a close loss in their only game last week. The Raiders visited a Zane Trace squad that had lost four straight games. Although River Valley had the momentum and used it to take a 15-11 lead in the first quarter, Zane Trace caught up and forced overtime. In overtime, Zane Trace pulled away to take a 52-49 win.

Despite finding success against TVC-Ohio teams this season, River Valley has struggled in nonconference play. The Raiders are 4-1 in TVC-Ohio play but are only 2-4 in nonconference games.

River Valley will have both a conference and a nonconference game this week. The Raiders will play Vinton County on Monday and Wahama, W.va, on Thursday.

 T3. Alexander Spartans | 7-4 (Conf. 2-2)

Written by: Katie Bailey

The Alexander Spartans are tied for third place with the Vinton County Vikings in the TVC-Ohio. Alexander earned a strong win earlier in the week, defeating the Huntington Huntsmen 42-34.

Logan Elm showcased a strong performance at home, handing Alexander a 60-51 loss in a challenging nonconference matchup. The Braves maintained control throughout all four quarters in a hard-fought contest.

The Spartans will look to bounce back in their next game, hosting the Meigs Marauders in a TVC-Ohio matchup tomorrow. Alexander hopes the home contest will reignite their momentum as it continues to climb the conference standings.

T3. Vinton County Vikings | 7-4 (Conf. 2-2)

Written by:  Ella Hughes

The Vikings’ win streak extended to three games following a 54-33 win over Zane Trace. However, the first game of the new year would be a 44-39 loss to Gallia Academy.

After a break from conference play, VC will return home Monday in a conference matchup against a tough River Valley squad. They will wrap up their week Thursday with a game against winless Wellston.

5. Nelsonville-York Buckeyes | 3-7 (Conf. 2-3)

Written by: Phoenix Brown

The Lady Buckeyes took on tough competition against the Eastern Eagles to end off 2025. The matchup was sizably dropped by Nelsonville-York, with the Eagles stealing the game 54-29.

Luckily for the Lady Buckeyes, they get a chance to build back momentum as they face the Southern Tornados on Monday, along with some TVC-Ohio play against the Alexander Spartans on Thursday. They wrap up their busy week on Saturday against the Trimble Tomcats.

6. Meigs Marauders | 1-10 (Conf. 1-3)

Written by: Joshua Hoerner

The Meigs Marauders had a full week off to start the new year. The team’s next contest is tomorrow night against Alexander. After that, Meigs will have another full week off before taking on Wellston and Nelsonville-York the following week. So far this season, Meigs has beaten Wellston and lost to Nelsonville-York.

 7. Wellston Golden Rockets | 0-11 (Conf. 0-4)

Written by: Andrew Woods

Wellston did not have any games last week. This week, the Golden Rockets will return to the TVC-Ohio to play games against Athens on Monday and Vinton County on Thursday.
