Ohio Hockey completes weekend sweep of Pitt

ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) – Coming off a win Friday night against the Panthers, Ohio Hockey was looking to do the same thing again, and they did just that coming out on top with a 4-2 victory.
The first period started out tough right when the puck dropped. Both teams did not back down from one another. Ohio had quite a few shots on goals in the first 10 minutes of play.
The Bobcats were able to get on the board first thanks to Mathieu Ovaert. The rest of the first period had no change. Ohio was able to outshoot Pitt by 15-4.
The second period featured a slower start for both teams, but the intensity was still there. Bobcats’ defenseman Blake Dustin was able to gain another goal only seven minutes into the period. Now giving Ohio a lead by two.
The Panthers and Bobcats both enter power play at the same time, giving back an even number on the ice. Neither team was able change the score during those two minutes.
Pitt got on the board with a goal from Devon Mastay, pulling the score to within one. After the goal, there was once again a power play for both teams.
Less than a minute into the third period, Hollander Thompson put the puck in the back of the net, now bringing the score 3-1 with Ohio in favor. The Panthers secured a man advantage but could not make anything happen.
About four minutes into the third, the Bobcats were granted a penalty shot; Drake Nabozny was not able to put the puck past the goal line. Ohio was able to redeem themselves with a goal from Luc Reeve, now bringing the Bobcats up by three.
Less than five minutes left of the game both teams once again had a power play; Pitt got a little luckier having a 4-3 advantage; they could not bring the score closer. With 3 seconds left of the game, the Panthers were able to secure another goal.
The Bobcats were able to sweep this series against the Panthers coming out on top.
