TVC-Hocking Standings: Southern boys stay perfect in the conference while Eastern, Federal Hocking and Waterford Girls fight for the top spot

TVC-Hocking Boys’ Standings
1. Southern Tornadoes | 11-2 (Conf. 7-0)

The Southern Tornadoes had all their games this week postponed due to snow.
Because the Tornadoes did not play any games this week, their conference clinching scenario remains the same. Southern will clinch the conference outright if they win at least one more TVC-Hocking game. Their first chance to do so will be on Thursday, when the Tornadoes face Federal Hocking. Before that game, Southern will visit River Valley on Monday.
2. Waterford Wildcats | 7-9 (Conf. 5-3)

The Waterford boys picked up a 54-47 win over Trimble this week, led by 21 points from Reese Lang. The victory provides a boost for the Wildcats as they continue conference play and look to gain ground in the standings.
Waterford returns home for a busy week, beginning with a matchup against Fort Frye on Tuesday. The Wildcats will then host Eastern on Thursday before closing the week Saturday against Athens.
3. Belpre Golden Eagles | 9-7 (Conf. 4-3)

Belpre did not play any games this week due to the snow. The lack of games this week means Belpre still has a slim chance to claim a share of the TVC-Hocking. If Belpre wins all their remaining conference games and Southern loses out, the Golden Eagles will claim a share of the title.
Belpre returns to the hardwood on Monday when they visit Parkersburg (W. Va.). The Golden Eagles will then host Trimble on Thursday.
4. Eastern Eagles | 7-12 (Conf. 4-4)

Eastern’s scheduled game against Federal Hocking was still played this week despite the extreme winter weather this week. This is the Lancers and Eagles’ second matchup of the year, with Eastern winning the first game 62-44.
This week’s matchup played out like the first one, as the Eagles won the game with a final score of 62-45. This win puts Eastern at .500 in conference. Eastern has one game scheduled for next week, traveling to face the Waterford Wildcats.
5. Federal Hocking Lancers | 4-14 (Conf. 2-6)ood Heroes

Federal Hocking despite the weather had a pretty busy week with games on Friday and Saturday playing the Eastern Eagles and the Green Bobcats respectively.
At home, the Lancers hosted the Eagles in a seemingly must-win conference win to get back on track. Federal Hocking, despite a strong first half seeing them hold the lead, fell to Eastern 62-45. Looking to bounce back, Federal Hocking then hosted Green the following night. The Lancers fell to the Bobcats in a thriller 53-51. An improved performance from the night before but still not enough to grab the victory.
With two weeks left until the tournament draws, Federal Hocking is looking to break their losing streak before tournament time. They will spend next week on the road, first traveling to Miller to play the Falcons on Tuesday. On Thursday, the Lancers travel to Racine for a conference clash against the Southern Tornadoes.
6. Trimble Tomcats | 5-14 (Conf. 1-7)

Despite other game cancellations, the Trimble boys were able to play heir game against Waterford. It was the second time the two had faced off this season, with the Wildcats winning the first game 51-46. The second face off had a familiar outcome, as Waterford controlled all four quarters to take the rematch win, 54-47. Despite the loss, both Brady Jajczyk and Luke Orsbourne had strong performances.
The boys will have a chance to get a conference win come Thursday as they will host Belpre, with tipoff starting at 7:15 p.m.
TVC-Hocking Girls’ Standings
T1. Federal Hocking Lancers | 10-6 (Conf. 6-2)

A week that was supposed to be critical for Federal Hocking’s conference odds was turned on its head by the weather. Even after the snowstorm, the Lancers played one game this week: a neutral site clash against the Warrensville Heights Tigers at Harvest Preparatory High School. The Tigers overwhelmed the Lancers winning the contest 52-39.
The anticipated rematch against Waterford was originally scheduled for last Thursday, but Mother Nature had other plans. That will serve as the TVC-Hocking finale in two weeks for both teams. The upcoming week has no conference games but still contains a very interesting slate. The Lancers play the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes at home on Monday. Federal Hocking concludes this week with a trip to Wheelersburg on Thursday to play the Pirates.
T1. Waterford Wildcats | 10-8 (Conf. 6-2)

The Waterford girls did not see any action this week as snow postponed their scheduled games, but their spot in the conference race remains as tight as ever. Waterford is currently locked in a three-way tie atop the conference standings with Federal Hocking and Eastern, making every upcoming game crucial down the stretch. The Wildcats will return to the court Friday night against Belpre in what shapes up to be a major conference test, with the outcome potentially breaking the tie and setting the tone for the rest of the season.
T1. Eastern Eagles | 12-5 (Conf. 6-2)

The Eagles were not able to play a game last week with the weather, but they have their biggest week of the year ahead of them. Eastern enters the week still in a three-way tie for first place in the TVC-Hocking.
With their two conference games on the slate for next week, the Eagles have a chance to clinch a share of the conference. The first game of the week is on Feb. 4, back in the Nest against Trimble. Eastern’s final game of the week is on Feb. 6 against their rival Southern. If they win both of those games, it will be the first time since 2014, the Eagles have won at least a share of the TVC-Hocking.
4. Trimble Tomcats | 7-4 (Conf. 4-4)

Due to weather conditions, the Tomcats did not have a game this week and their matchup at Eastern has been rescheduled for Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
The girls will also host Federal Hocking at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, so Trimble had a shot of picking up two conference wins in the long stretch of the season.
5. Belpre Golden Eagles | 5-14 (Conf. 2-6)

Despite gaining momentum with two wins last week, the Belpre Golden Eagles cooled off this week, losing to Fort Frye 49-28.
The Golden Eagles will finish their season next week. Belpre will play their final home game of the season on Tuesday against Southern. The Golden Eagles will then visit Waterford on Friday and St. Mary’s (W. Va.) on Saturday
6. Southern Tornadoes | 7-11 (Conf. 0-8)

The Southern Tornadoes did not play any games this week due to the snowstorm. Next week, Southern will look for their first TVC-Hocking win of the season in their final two conference games. The Tornadoes will face Belpre on Tuesday and Eastern on Friday.
