Waterford defends their home against Eastern

WATERFORD, OHIO — The Waterford Wildcats (9-9, 6-3) hosted the Eastern Eagles (7-13, 4-5) in a TVC-Hocking matchup. Waterford has been a team on the ups this year, while Eastern has been struggling this season. The Wildcats defended their court in dominate fashion, winning the game with a final of 59-29 

Both squads played aggressive and quick basketball throughout the first quarter, with the Wildcats taking an early lead. Ending the first quarter with a score of 15-6. Reese Lang led the Wildcats in terms of points in the first with six, coming from two threes.  

Waterford started off the second quarter scoring four unanswered points to widen their lead. A two from Hayden Wilcoxen stopped the streak. After Wilcoxen basket, Eastern returned the favor on the Wildcats, scoring on back-to-back drives.  

However Waterford never left the foot off the gas, as an another Lang three extended the Wildcats lead to 13. After trading baskets back and forth the half ended with a Waterford lead of 27-14.  

The Eagles struggled at the free-throw line all night long, starting the night going zero for eight. While the Eagles were struggling the Wildcats were electric, starting the second half with an uninterrupted nine point run. Waterford extended their largest lead to 20, with a few left in the third. The Wildcats entered the fourth with a lead of 44-23.  

The Wildcats keep up the pressure though the final buzzer, keep the lead all though the fourth. Winning the game with a final score of 59-29. 

Waterford plays a cross-conference game against the Athens Bulldogs on Feb. 13. 

While Eastern will travel to play the first ranked head in the TVC-Hocking Southern Tornadoes Feb. 7.
