CORNING, Ohio (WOUB) — The Federal Hocking Lancers (4-16, 2-7) took on the Miller Falcons (5-13, 3-9) in a low scoring, physical battle. The Falcons would pull away in the final quarter to take this game 45-35, winning three of their last four.
The first quarter was a low scoring affair, as neither team could get shots off. After a long eight minutes, Miller led nine to five.
The game got a lot closer in the second quarter. Federal Hocking’s Cameron Joy dropped six in the quarter to close in on the lead, but a big three from Bodey Dorsey kept Miller in front. The Falcons would go into the break with a narrow 17-16.
Coming out of half, it would get chippy right away as both teams got into foul trouble right away. Miller would pull away thanks to some great shooting from Parker Cummings, but the Lancers clawed right back to close this quarter out 31-28.
It was still either team’s game headed into the last quarter of action, and the physicality stayed the same. The Lancers stayed in striking distance, and Joy drew the charge down 35-32 to give Federal Hocking a chance to tie the game. However, turnover problems struck; Miller would score on the ensuing play, and this game would slip away.
The Falcons will prepare for Fairfield Christian Academy on Friday,
The Lancers will try to get back into the win column against Trimble on Friday.
