Andre Currie helped the Golden Eagles’ efforts with 23 points, while Malakai Ensor contributed an impressive nine rebounds.

The boys battled all night at home against Warren, coming up just short in a 72-68 double overtime thriller. It was a back-and-forth contest from start to finish, with neither team able to create much separation through regulation or the first extra period. In the end, Warren made a few key plays late in the second overtime to secure the win.
Finn Pennock led the way offensively with 20 points and added two assists, attacking the rim and knocking down timely shots to keep his team within striking distance. Avery Pottmeyer followed with 15 points and made his presence felt defensively with three steals. Reese Lang contributed 13 points, while Gavin Hiener chipped in 12, giving the team four players in double figures.
Despite the tough loss, the team finishes tied for second place in the TVC-Hocking and now turns its focus to postseason play. They’ll host Belpre in the first round of the playoffs, looking to regroup and make a strong push moving forward.

Assistant coach Nick Hicks will be stepping into the head coaching role. Coach Hicks led the JV team throughout this season. He was a former assistant coach at Rio Grande University.

The Federal Hocking Lancers only had one game the previous week, with conference play and playoff seeding wrapped up. The Lancers traveled to Beverly to battle the Fort Frye Cadets on Friday. Being rescheduled from January due to the snowstorm, this was the regular season finale for both teams. Federal Hocking, despite a late comeback attempt seeing Gabe Brey score 20 points, fell to Fort Frye 54-49 in the regular season finale.
With the regular season completed, the Lancers sit tied at 5 in the TVC-Hocking and sit as the 14 seed in the Division VI Southeast District. The Federal Hocking’s playoff campaign starts on Thursday, Feb. 26, at Fairfield High School against the Lions.
