Meigs drops heartbreaking loss to Washington

ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) – The Washington Courthouse Blue Lions and the Meigs Marauders met in the Convo on Sunday for the second round of the playoffs.
The first quarter started off with Blue Lions Noah Haithcock, putting up a dominant five points, off an early basket and a three-pointer. Carson Davis would answer with five points, leading Meigs to a 12-11 lead.
Going into the second quarter, the Blue Lions would carry Haithcock’s momentum and take the lead 34-25. Haithcock now had 16 points and five rebounds after a couple of clutch plays and baskets. For the Marauders, Davis had 11 points and three rebounds, while Owen Tracy had eight points.
In the second half, the Blue Lions would keep the lead and push it to 48-39. Haithcock would not add anymore of his own points for Washington, but he did add a couple assists. Jeston Everhart would cover this with eight points. Davis and Tracy would both have 13 points each for Meigs.
During the fourth quarter, the Marauders would try to tie up the game, but the closest they would come to that would be coming within four points. Davis had 26 points and six rebounds, with a late three to shorten the Blue Lions’ lead. Tracy added 16 points and three assists. Washington would win the game 59-56. Haithcock ended with 20 points and 13 assists. Aden Osborne also had nine points and three rebounds. The Marauders had some struggles defensively that the Blue Lions took advantage of.
The Blue Lions will now face Unioto on Thursday at 8:15 p.m. in the Convo for the next round of playoff games.
