ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) — Residents gathered on Court Street Saturday for Boogie on the Bricks, an annual event featuring live music, local vendors, food trucks and family-friendly activities.

For one vendor, the event marked an important milestone. Sanza, owner of The Whimsy Posy, was attending Boogie on the Bricks as a vendor for the first time, selling crochet and stationery items.

“It’s been very busy today. Selling to my own community feels kind of weird,” she said. “I’ve always wanted to have my own business, but it’s kind of weird being able to fulfill that, especially fulfilling it where I grew up.”

Her experience reflected one of the event’s goals: providing local artists, creators and small businesses with an opportunity to connect directly with the Athens community.

Throughout the day, attendees sat in lawn chairs near the stage, listening to live music and enjoying food and drinks. Several food trucks and arts-and-crafts vendors lined the street, allowing visitors to shop locally while spending time with friends and family.

Families with young children also had activities to enjoy. The event’s kid zone included a bounce house and face painting, creating a space for children to play while parents explored the festival.
