The Ceramics break the Spartans winning streak

ALBANY, Ohio (WOUB) — The Crooksville Ceramics (2-1) traveled to Albany to take on the Alexander Spartans (2-1). The Ceramics would come out on top with a breakthrough. Taking the win 42-20.

Alexander starts off with the ball in the beginning as Trenton Mash returns the opening kick back to Crooksville’s end zone to give the Spartans a 7-0 lead with only 22 seconds into the game. But the Ceramics do not give up easily after this.  

The Ceramics return the favor in their first drive and push their way from their own 20 all the way to Alexander’s end zone. A connection between quarterback Brayson Hill to wide receiver Riley Spring will let Crooksville tie up the game with 5:49 left in the first quarter.  

The Spartans could not make anything happen in the next drive. With Mash having seven negative yards in this drive, Alexander sent out their punt team, with Isaac McCune as their punter.  

Crooksville pushed all the way to the other side of the field with the help of Andrew Dorsey and Kyle Lane. Hill was able to top off this drive with a QB keeper touchdown from the five-yard line. This gives the Ceramics the 14-7 lead late into the first quarter.  

Coming into the second quarter, Alexander is able to come back and tie the game back up at 14 even with a touchdown from Colt Newton. 

The Ceramics were trying to pull ahead with a field goal, but McCune was able to successfully block the attempt and get the ball on the 25. But shortly after, the Spartans fumbled the ball, and Crooksville took possession again.  

This would lead to a touchdown from senior Aiden Harper. But after, Crooksville did an onside kick and got the ball back on the Alexander 46-yard line. Then ending in a QB keeper 32-yard touchdown by Hill. Crooksville extends their lead in less than one minute, 28-14.  

The Ceramics go on to the second half with the momentum they carried throughout the first and come out on top with a 42-20 victory over the Spartans.  

Alexander will face the Athens Bulldogs on Sept. 11 at home. Meanwhile, Crooksville will head over to New Lexington to take on the Panthers on Sept. 11.
