Cadets continue to dominate rivalry against Wildcats

BEVERLY, Ohio (WOUB) — Fort Frye extends their win streak over Waterford with a shutout victory at home. The Cadets have won 20 games consecutively over their cross-town rivals after defeating the Wildcats, 20-0.
Fort Frye received the kickoff to begin the game and was able to wear down the opposing defense by sticking to the ground game. They were able to run down the entire first quarter clock and score just a few plays into the second. Gavin Rauch punched it in from a yard to put the Cadets on the board.
The Wildcats began their first drive but quickly gave the ball back after a punt. Fort Frye would score on their final drive before the halftime break. Grady Hesson would connect with Clayton Tullius on a deep pass to extend the lead to two scores.
With a few empty drives to begin the third quarter, Waterford found some momentum after a 54-yard gain. Avery Pottmeyer scrambled away from pressure and broke loose before being tackled inside the red zone.
They would run into trouble just a play later as the defense forced a fumble and flipped possession. The Cadets would carry this drive into the fourth quarter. Hesson would once again find Tullius for another touchdown, this time only from five yards out. The extra point would be missed, but it did not matter in the end.
Fort Frye and Waterford would both turn the ball over late in the game before the time expired. The clock eventually hit triple zeroes, and the home fans began celebrating another win over their down the road rivals.
The Cadets will head up to Columbus next Friday to face the Grandview Heights Bobcats. They sit at an even record with wins over Centennial and a 53-0 win over Whetstone. Northridge and Bexley got the best of Grandview Heights in their following two games.
After taking their first defeat of the season, the Wildcats will look to get back on track as they host Nelsonville-York. The Buckeyes are undefeated with wins over Trimble, Logan, Dawson-Bryant and River Valley. They have outscored opponents 184-26 so far this season
