Hamilton Township shuts outs Circleville in conference play

CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio (WOUB) — The Hamilton Township Rangers (4-2) traveled to face the Circleville Tigers (4-2) in a conference matchup. The Rangers would excel in this game and come out with a 28-0 victory.
The game kicked off from the start with Hamilton Township getting the ball, and senior Lance Reynolds would take the ball for a long run. This would then lead to a quick touchdown, not even three minutes into the game for the Rangers.
Shortly later into the second quarter, the Tigers forced a fumble, which was then recovered by Uriah Woodworth. This allowed Circleville an attempt to get on the board. It was cut short by the Rangers closing off the Tigers’ run halfway down the field.
With Hamilton Township regaining control of the ball, they were able to have a chance to make it down the field. The Rangers rushed the ball, with very few passes throughout the evening. A punch-in from junior Dez Branch would give Hamilton Township the two-score lead.
Roughly halfway through the second quarter, Circleville was forced to punt the football after a stalled drive. The Tigers would be able to recover the ball with help from Caiden Schroeder. This would give Circleville the ball in Hamilton Township’s territory.
The Rangers were able to stop the Tigers, forcing Circleville to go for a field goal. As they were attempting the kick, it was blocked by a group of Hamilton Township players. This allowed the Rangers to take control of the ball and push their way down the field to enter the Tigers’ side.
With less than a minute left until halftime, sophomore Suge Brown was able to break through the goal line and get his way into the end zone to bring Hamilton Township’s lead up to 21-0.
In the third quarter, Circleville brought out their punt team after getting stopped on the 42-yard line. As they punt, they are able to land the ball at the 1-yard line for Hamilton Township to pick up and start their drive there. Each team brought out their punt teams often in the third quarter.
Entering the fourth quarter, the Tigers were looking for a way to jump back into this game, but could not find it. Jace Captain would throw an interception to the Rangers’ own Brendan Locke. Granted Circleville was able to force a fumble and gain possession with only three minutes left of the game, they were not able to get on the board.
Hamilton Township took the 28-0 win and was able to keep their 2-0 record in the MSL Buckeye. The Rangers will be at home against the Liberty Union Lions on Oct. 2. As for the Tigers, they will bring in Fairfield Union Falcons on Oct. 2 to their field.
