WILLOW WOOD, Ohio (WOUB) — The Symmes Valley Vikings (6-0) hosted the Eastern Eagles (4-2) on Friday night. Bronx Carpenter led the Vikings to a 33-7 victory to continue their undefeated streak this season.

The Vikings received the opening kickoff and made a statement early. It didn’t take long for Bronx Carpenter to find a score after a trip to the Red Zone ended in a touchdown reception by Levi Russell.

Eastern wasn’t satisfied with their defensive play and decided to step up on offense, as Eagle QB Boston Webb ripped off a huge run to set up another long run from sophomore RB Eli Shaffer for the equalizing score, tying it up.

Defense would step it up on the following Symmes Valley offensive possession as Cade Leist would knock the ball out of a receiver’s hands, and the Eagles would jump on the ball, securing the fumble recovery.

Already deep in the Vikings’ territory, Eastern just can’t move the ball and turned it over on downs. Back on offense, Symmes Valley wasted no time before Carpenter found his second passing touchdown to his fellow class of 2028 receiver, Andrew Isaacs, on a sixty-five-yard bomb.

Eagles trying to shake off the Vikings’ score, lean on Shaffer, who finds a lane and picks up a few yards before they ultimately have to punt it away and back to Symmes Valley. Déjà vu strikes as Bronx’s pass to Isaacs finds the end zone once again.

The Vikings’ defense would prove tough once again, forcing yet another punt. This time, it would be the Eagles’ defense that would make the big play, as Shaffer would intercept Carpenter’s pass for the junior QB’s first interception of the season.

Eastern would not be able to capitalize on the turnover and found themselves defending their own end zone late in the second quarter. Although the Vikings’ efforts fell short at the end of the first half, they would carry the momentum through the rest of the game, not allowing the Eagles to score again.

Symmes Valley will go on to 7-0, looking to find another win in their away matchup at Sciotoville East next week. Eastern falls to 4-3, hoping to get back on track at home against Notre Dame.
