ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) – Athens Scream Park has returned for its second Halloween season, this time in the woods at Dutch Creek Winery (12157 OH-690).
In this episode of Conversations from Studio B, host Emily Votaw goes behind the scenes at the attraction’s fictional Camp Caraway to meet the crew that brought this year’s haunt to life after heavy rains in August caused flooding that swept their original sets down the creek.
Founders Breck Castle, Deveah Altier and Kieran Huff talk about the camp’s lore and the open-door approach that turns first-time volunteers into builders and scare actors. Several haunt actors introduce their characters, and Dutch Creek Winery owner Paul Freedman explains why hosting the attraction has been worth it.
Athens Scream Park is open Oct. 30 and Oct. 31 between 7:30 p.m. and 1 a.m; and Nov. 1 from 7:30 p.m. – 11 p.m. All three are extreme nights, when actors may touch guests. The final weekend, Nov. 6 – 8, keeps the same hours, but will not be extreme. Find more at athensscreampark.com.
