Man Dies In Thursday Morning Crash In York Twp.
< < Back to man-dies-in-thursday-morning-crash-in-york-twpA 70-year-old male is dead after a one-vehicle crash on Thursday morning in York Twp.
The man was the only occupant of a black SUV that collided with a tree on Elm Rock Road in Nelsonville, across from the York Twp. Volunteer Fire Department.
There were no witnesses to the crash, but residents of the road heard the collision and called for help, according to Sgt. Thomas Holbert of the Athens post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Dispatchers reported that the man was unresponsive before emergency responders arrived on scene.
The identity of the man has not been released pending notification of family, but an autopsy will be conducted as part of the investigation.
No alcohol or drugs are being considered a factor in the crash, Holbert said, and investigators think a medical condition could be a possible cause.
“There’s nothing (on the road) that would have caused this,” Holbert said. “There were no tire tracks telling us he hit the brakes and there’s not a major curve.”
The Nelsonville Fire Department assisted at the scene, along with Athens County Emergency Medical Services. The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
