Nelsonville Man Sentenced To 9 Years In Burglary Case

A Nelsonville man is headed to prison for nine years after orchestrating the robbery of his own roommate with the help of two others.
Bradley D. Hairston, 23, appeared in Athens County Common Pleas Court Monday and pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated burglary — both felonies of the first degree.
Hairston was sentenced to nine years in prison with five years of mandatory post-release control. He is required to pay $350 toward his incarceration as well as restitution.
On Nov. 8, Hairston had two people armed with guns enter his home to rob his roommate. According to Athens County Prosecutor Keller Blackburn, Hairston and his roommate were both ordered to the ground at gunpoint while the two intruders stole property.
Blackburn said Hairston was the mastermind behind the robbery and the plan was to split the money sold for the property between the three.
William Stivison, 19, of Nelsonville, and Roshawn Waldren, 21, also of Nelsonville, are the accused co-defendants. Both are charged with two counts of aggravated burglary and both have pre-trial hearings for later this month.
Blackburn told The Messenger that among the items stolen were an iPhone, laptop, stereo and PlayStation 4. He said restitution calls for an amount up to $3,000.
The investigation began with search warrants at 822 Poplar St. and 1000 E. Canal St. and seven people were detained by Nelsonville police. After interviews were conducted, Stivison and Waldren were arrested but Hairston was not at that time.
