From Tuesday, March 17 through Sunday March 22, Ohio University School of Media Arts and Studies Instructor Josh Antonuccio will be leading a class of 24 OU students for a week-long trip to South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.

This unique industry immersion course provides Ohio University MDIA students with the opportunity to engage with all facets of the music industry at the largest and most influential media industry gathering of the year.

South by Southwest offers an unparalleled convergence of the music, interactive, and film industries and fosters an engaging atmosphere for professional and educational growth.

Ohio University students will hear personally from industry leaders in a variety of ways, including panel discussions, keynote addresses, interviews and workshops.

In addition, students will be given the exclusive opportunity to participate in multiple one-on-one mentoring sessions with professionals in their specific field of choice for career advice, professional development and potential internship opportunities.

Some of this year’s speakers and panelists include Wycleaf Jean, Snoop Dogg, Wynona Judd, Big Sean, Daniel Glass of Glassnote Records and countless others.

“This innovative and immersive learning course provides School of Media Arts and Studies students with a profound career advantage by building strategic partnerships for internships and networking with employers, colleagues, and potential clients,” Antonuccio said. “Students get to observe firsthand the scope and networks that exist within today’s current music and media industries.”

Along with the conference sessions, students get access to hundreds of showcases for thousands of established and upcoming artists in the evenings, getting to experience the best music of the year.

In April, attending students will give a presentation about their experience in two panel discussions. These presentations will be free and open for OU students wanting to learn about the trip experience and will provide a forum to share about trends that were discussed at the conference.
