Marshall President Kopp to Face Faculty Referendum
< < Back to marshall-president-kopp-face-faculty-referendumMarshall University's Faculty Senate has decided to hold a referendum on President Stephen Kopp.
The move was made during an emergency meeting Friday.
Faculty Senate Chairman Eldon Larsen tells media outlets the online vote will be held in early May.
The decision came a day after the Board of Governors tabled Kopp's proposal to overhaul the school's budget policies.
Kopp apologized Wednesday for ordering the removal of nearly all revenue funds from department accounts into a central holding account last week.
The move was criticized by faculty members who say they weren't notified until after the fact.
Professor Dallas Brozik said the College of Business then took a vote of no confidence against Kopp and Provost Gayle Ormiston.
Kopp says the money has been returned.
