Ohio Baseball Closes Home Stand With 9-1 Win

The Bobcats got off to a quick start scoring five runs in the third inning and never looked back, walking away with a 9-1 victory over Morehead State.

Not only did the bats get off to a hot start for the Bobcats, so did the pitching. The combination of Jake Miller and Sean Kennedy went through six straight scoreless innings to begin the game and by that point it was too late for the Eagles.

The Bobcats were led behind the plate by second basemen Ben Otto and shortstop Dan Schmidt.

Otto started the scoring for the ‘Cats with an RBI single in the second inning. Schmidt followed up in the third inning with a three-run blast out to left center, his fourth home run on the year.

Schmidt went 3-5 with two runs and three RBI’s. He now has 24 RBIs, which is second on the team behind Jake Madsen.

Otto finished 2-3 with two RBI singles. He is now batting .240 with 17 RBIs on the year.

Kyle Dean, Alex Corna and John Adryan all had an RBI of their own.

Kennedy pitched a strong 5.1 innings after Miller left in the second inning. The junior picked up his second win of the year, allowing just three hits and one run. His ERA now sits at 4.70 on the season.  

Morehead State pitcher Craig Percy got his first decision of the year, was a loss. He was only able to crank out 2.2 innings, giving up four hits, six earned runs and five walks.

The Bobcats finished their eight-game home stand at an even 4-4. They play at Marshall Wednesday at 3 p.m.
