Generals Continue Their Undefeated Streak
< < Back to generals-continue-their-undefeated-streakThey say that rain is the best defense, and tonight that proved to be true. There were six fumbles during the battle between two 4-0 teams, the Sheridan Generals and Cambridge Bobcats. Due to the weather, it was mostly running and short screenplays. Quarterback, Drew Murray of the Generals went only 3-7 for 57 yards and one touchdown.
The first quarter was a lot of getting acclimated to the weather conditions, but the Generals picked it up in the second quarter by dominating on the ground. Sheridan’s star running back, Mitchell Fouch, had 26 carries for 200 yards and two touchdowns.
During the first half, Cambridge could not stop the run. At the half, the score was 21-0 Generals. Sheridan continued their running game after the break, but the Bobcats did a great job by stopping the Generals on their first possession. This led to the first Cambridge touchdown by Reese Laishley on a beautiful screen play. Cambridge started to gain some momentum.
The Bobcats punted the ball and the catch was muffed and recovered by the Bobcats in their own red zone! With hopes of scoring to make it a one-possession game, Cambridge fumbled one more time, causing a defensive touchdown for the Generals by Dalton McGlaughlin.
McGlaughlin also had a 32-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter, which earned him Player of the Game for his excellent performance in the night’s match up. The young Generals defeated the Bobcats 34-14.
