False Calls Leads To Marijuana Bust
< < Back to false-calls-leads-marijuana-bustAthens County Sheriff’s deputies shut down an indoor marijuana grow operation Sunday after receiving false phone calls about a possible kidnapping.
According to Sheriff Pat Kelly, deputies first received a phone call from a person claiming his daughter was in a domestic situation with her live-in boyfriend at home on Shade Rd.
Deputies arrived at the home but no one answered the door. Sheriff Kelly said an hour later deputies received a second call from the man saying his daughter told him she was being held in the basement against her will.
Kelly said no one answered the door when deputies arrived at the home for a second time but because of the circumstances of the call they entered the home through an unlocked window.
No one was home but deputies discovered 101 marijuana plants and growing equipment in the basement.
Kelly said the man that made the phone calls will be interviewed by detectives. The case will be presented to the grand jury.
