Ohio River Sweep Set For Saturday
< < Back to ohio-river-sweep-set-saturdayThousands of volunteers will gather along the banks of the Ohio River this weekend to collect trash and debris.
The annual Ohio River Sweep is being held Saturday in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. The cleanup is sponsored by the Cincinnati-based Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission.
Volunteers are being provided with cleanup supplies and a free T-shirt.
The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection is coordinating cleanups at 19 sites in 10 counties. Those counties are Brooke, Cabell, Hancock, Marshall, Mason, Ohio, Pleasants, Tyler, Wetzel and Wood.
The river sweep started in 1989.
