Deer Hunting Allowed At Two WV State Parks
< < Back to deer-hunting-allowed-two-wv-state-parksThe Division of Natural Resources will allow deer hunting this fall at two state parks – Blennerhassett Island in Wood County and Stonewall Resort in Lewis County.
The Blennerhassett hunt is Nov. 12-14. Stonewall's hunt is Nov. 18-20.
DNR Director Frank Jezioro says overly large herds create an imbalance that subjects the animals to poor feeding conditions and poor health.
The state uses monitoring and field surveys to decide whether hunts are necessary.
The deadline to apply is Aug. 19, and the DNR will notify those who are chosen in a random selection after Oct. 1.
Applications are available online at the DNR's website and at the agency's district offices in Elkins, South Charleston and French Creek. They're also available at state park and state forest offices.
