Ohio Football has been busy recruiting all throughout the summer, and the program landed its 12th verbal commitment of the 2014 class on Saturday. Allen Trieu of Scout.com reported via Twitter that Joe Lowery, an offensive lineman, committed to becoming a Bobcat.

Lowery plays tackle for Tallmadge (Ohio) High School. Both Scout.com and Rivals.com have him rated as a three star recruit. He is also rated the No. 70 tackle of the entire 2014 class by Scout.com

At 6-foot-6 and 285 pounds, Lowery is built with a long frame that has some room for growth in the lower body. With an already solid skill set and great balance he can get even better by strengthening his lower half.

His skills and size are two big factors that drew offers from eight D-I schools, including Illinois and Cincinnati.

Lowery becomes Ohio’s third commitment on the offensive line, along with center Jake Pruehs and guard Stephen Langenkamp.

Per NCAA rules, a student-athlete’s commitment does not become binding until they sign a National Letter of Intent. National Signing Day is on Feb. 5, 2014.
